Group meets virtually each Tuesday from 9:00-10:00 am.
No out-of-pocket expenses for Soonercare clients.
Must be a client at Improving Lives Counseling Services to attend this closed group.
April is National Stress Awareness Month. If you are ready to learn how to better manage stress and anxiety, this is the group for you. Over the course of eight weeks, we will explore a variety of holistic, evidence-based practices that have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. Each session will be a blend of theory (discussion) and application (practice).
Proposed Itinerary:
Week 1: Introductions to Stress, Anxiety, and Each Other
Week 2: Cognitive-Based Interventions for Reducing Stress and Anxiety
Week 3: Affect-Based Interventions for Reducing Stress and Anxiety
Week 4: Behavioral-Based Interventions for Reducing Stress and Anxiety
Week 5: Somatic-Based Interventions for Reducing Stress and Anxiety
Week 6: Expressive Arts-Based Interventions for Reducing Stress and Anxiety
Week 7: Mindfulness-Based Interventions for Reducing Stress and Anxiety
Week 8: Bringing It All Together & Goodbyes to Each Other (and Hopefully to Some Stress and Anxiety)
About the Facilitator:
Z. Hamilton Avery, LMSW, MSW (U/S), LMT, CYT-1,000, TIYT (he/they) is a therapist, health educator, wellness coach, body and energy worker, yoga and meditation teacher, and abstract artist in Tulsa. In addition to having obtained over a dozen certifications in various modalities of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), Z holds an associate’s degree in pre-nursing studies, a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and a master’s degree in social work. When supporting clients and students, Z takes a humanistic, person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach. Their practice is grounded in compassion, harm reduction, inclusivity, social justice, and evidence-based interventions.
